Sunday worship

Our principal Sunday morning service starts at 10.30am.

We are an Open Evangelical Church, which means that our worship is generally informal and unfussy. We don't usually wear robes, and we keep things like processing, bowing and making the sign of the cross to a minimum.

We have communion on the first and third Sundays of the month. On the second Sunday we have Morning Worship, a slightly different service with no communion. The fourth Sunday is an Altogether Service with a flavour for families and younger people but still suitable for adults and children alike.  When there is a fifth week in the month, we have an 'all United Service', with our sister Church St. Peter's, Bocking (taking turns in their own venues).

Every Sunday the children have their own group called 'True Direction' which go off during the service. (You can find more information about this here.) In addition, at Morning Worship service on the second Sunday a 'True Direction slot', has a short all-age sermon at the start to involve the children as much as we can.

In terms of hymns, we like to sing both old favourites, and more modern worship songs. We have an organ and a sound system that plays piped music, and we use both of them over the course of a month.

Services usually come in at about 75 minutes, after which we all have tea, coffee and biscuits together.

On the second Sunday of every month, we also meet at 6pm for 'Prayer and Praise', an informal time of fellowship to talk, share, sing, pray, or whatever else you fancy!
