True Direction
This is the umbrella term for the children's groups that run on a Sunday morning. (We're not quite sure how the name started, but it might be something to do with One Direction, who won X Factor back in 2010!)
There are several aspects to what we do:
The True Direction slot
This is a short all-age talk that we have at the start of Morning Worship services (usually the 2nd and 5th Sundays of the month), before the children go off to their groups. It's interactive and usually fun!
What happens each week?
Children sit with their parents in the service until the groups depart:
On the 1st Sunday of the month school-age children have activities in the Fulbeck Room (upstairs) with their leader and a helper, whereas younger children stay with their parents, but there are activities available for them in the Welcome Area that can also be brought into church.
On the 2nd Sunday of the month, once again school-age children have activities in the Fulbeck Room. A group for younger children will be held in the Welcome Area with a leader, but we do need at least one parent to stay with the children as well.
On the 3rd Sunday of the month, all ages will meet together in the Welcome Area, with a leader and helper, but we ask that parent/s attend as well for whole family worship activities.
On the 4th Sunday of the month we hold an "All Together Family Service", so that the whole family can stay together in church. This is an interactive cafe style service, with craft activities provided for the children.
If there is a 5th Sunday in the month, the children stay in church with their parents, but there are parent supervised activities available.
Show and Tell
At the end of the service, on the weeks that children go out to True Direction, one of the leaders will report back to the grown-ups on what the children have been doing that morning.
