St Paul's Church, Braintree

God is Love, Jesus Loves you

                 Community Links

Community links are very important to us as a church. Before St Paul’s was even built at Hay Lane there was the vision that this should be a building that is used throughout the whole week for the benefit of the local community.

As well as all the church based activities taking place each week, we welcome Foodbank every Wednesday as they seek to make sure no-one goes hungry in our area!

As a church we are very grateful to those organisations who have supported our finances over many years through regularly hiring our premises. Currently we welcome:

  • Braintree Flower Club
  • Braintree & Bocking Local History Society
  • Jo Jingles
  • Kumon (Maths & English classes for children)
  • NHS referral classes for Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Strength & Balance
  • Tai Chi

When required we are also used as a Polling Station and welcome Kingsmead Park Residents Association for their annual meeting.

Links with our local schools

Traditionally since St Paul’s moved to Hay Lane our Vicar in post has visited Becker’s Green Primary School for regular assemblies. On occasions R.E. lessons have also been taught at Alec Hunter.

We are delighted that sometimes pupils from local schools come and visit us. More recently we have welcomed all the Year 2 classes from Lyon’s Hall Primary School for interactive “Messy Church” activities as they have explored why Christians celebrate Christmas and children. These sessions were great fun and greatly enjoyed by all the children and adults who attended. In the future we hope to develop this link with our local schools.
